With an ever-increasing number of TV productions choosing to be based in Wales over the summer, Deputy Minister for Arts and Sport, Dawn Bowden recently had a behind the scenes tour of Wolf Studios Wales – and saw first-hand the benefits to the Welsh economy, and growth in local employment, that the surge in TV production has brought to the creative sector in Cardiff and beyond.

On Friday 20 August, a team of creatives, including partners from Wales, will launch ‘Fix Up The City’ - the first ever city-scale, immersive Augmented Reality (AR) experience based on the iconic duo Wallace & Gromit – which can be experienced in Cardiff, San Francisco and Bristol.

As the UNESCO World Heritage Committee convenes in in Fuzhou, China and virtually  on-line for the first time in its history,  the decision on whether the bid for the slate landscape of north-west Wales  will be  awarded World Heritage Site Status will be made this week. 

During visits to north Wales this week, Deputy Minister for Arts and Sport, Dawn Bowden met with recipients of the Welsh Government’s Cultural Recovery Fund – to see how funding has helped keep organisations afloat and safeguard jobs during a challenging time for the sector.

Director Gareth Evans’ exciting new project for Netflix, HAVOC, is set to be filmed in Wales this summer. The action thriller will be one of the biggest films ever to be produced in Wales, with Tom Hardy and Forest Whitaker on board to star.

Eight museums and libraries will benefit from £1.1million funding through the Welsh Government’s Transformation Capital Grants.
