Welsh apprentice gears up for global skills competition

  • A Welsh apprentice is training at Coleg Sir Gâr ahead of representing Team UK at the WorldSkills competition in Shanghai this September.
  • The Deputy Minister for Skills and Tertiary Education visited the training camp to see apprentices in action and champion the opportunities apprenticeships offer to people across Wales.
  • Apprenticeships in Wales combine hands-on experience with nationally recognised qualifications, helping to close skills gaps in priority sectors and build a skilled workforce for employers.

Deputy Minister sets out priorities for skills and tertiary education in Wales

  • A national skills audit and Future Skills Summit are underway to identify workforce needs and shape a new skills strategy for Wales.
