Treorchy road fixed thanks to government funding boost

Councils can get up to £120m to repair more local roads over the next two years to fix problem roads in their area.
The funding, announced as part of the Welsh Government’s 2025-26 budget, will see resurfacing schemes throughout Wales on local roads.
Roads that are most in need of repairs will be renewed, with tens of thousands of potholes prevented and repaired. Bridges and pavements will also be fixed.
This includes Heol Orchwy in Treorchy, where residents are benefitting from an improved road surface.
Finance Secretary Mark Drakeford visited the project. He said: "These improvements demonstrate our commitment to delivering better transport. By investing in local repairs, we will connect our communities and improve people’s everyday journeys.”
Councillor Andrew Morgan OBE, Leader of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council and Leader of Welsh Local Government Association, said: “This further funding for roads is very welcome, and will support Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, and councils across Wales to make significant improvements for residents.
“We know residents in Rhondda Cynon Taf want their roads to be in the best condition they can be so that they can easily access work, learning and leisure. This funding will help to support our ambition to keep delivering for our communities.”
