More than £60 million to deliver housing across Wales

The Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Government, Jayne Bryant, will today (Tuesday, 3 February) announce £60 million in funding to boost housing delivery across Wales.
The investment includes an indicative £50 million for the Transitional Accommodation Capital Programme (TACP) enabling the scheme to re-open for 2026-27. This is being announced early to give the sector time to prepare, so homes can be delivered quickly.
This comes alongside an additional £11 million in repayable finance that has been made available for the Land for Housing loan scheme this financial year.
The funding forms part of a statement to the Senedd in which the Cabinet Secretary will set out the substantial progress made on housing delivery during this government term.
The Cabinet Secretary will say: "Having a stable home is fundamental to people's sense of security, wellbeing, and future prospects, which is why we put house building as a centrepiece of the things that we are determined to deliver.
“Despite some of the most challenging conditions the housebuilding sector has faced in a generation, including the aftermath of the pandemic, disrupted supply chains, rising material and labour costs, and prolonged high interest rates, housing delivery in Wales has remained resilient.
"We promised to deliver more homes – and we are delivering."
The £50 million for TACP will enable good-quality homes to be delivered at pace through acquisitions, conversions and refurbishment of void properties.
The programme has already supported over 2,700 homes, with a further 1,000 additional homes expected through this year's programme, while creating assets that remain within the social housing system for the long term.
The additional £11 million of repayable finance made available for the Land for Housing Loan scheme, combined with recycled loan funding, will provide total funding of £23 million this financial year. The scheme aims to support the delivery of up to 850 additional homes by securing land sites for housing development.
The Cabinet Secretary has also reopened the RSL Low-cost Loan Scheme, putting £36m towards a scheme that is already on track to deliver over 270 new affordable homes and improvements to over 4,000 existing properties.
Social housing capital investment has exceeded £2 billion over the current Senedd term, including £466 million in this financial year alone.
