Commenting on the latest Labour Market Statistics, Minister for Economy, Transport and North Wales, Ken Skates said:
“Today’s figures show the impact coronavirus is having on our economy, and we know many are facing continued pressures and uncertainties.
“To support Welsh businesses further in dealing with the economic impacts of the pandemic and the fast approaching end of the EU transition period, I recently announced the next phase of our Economic Resilience Fund worth £140m.
“This will be crucial in support firms planning for the economy of tomorrow and those impacted by local restrictions. Of this, £20m is being ring-fenced to support tourism and hospitality businesses. The Economic Resilience Fund has already protected more than 100,000 Welsh jobs which may otherwise have been lost and this next phase will be vital in helping to safeguard many more.
“As a Welsh Government, we are continuing to do all we can to support our businesses, workers and communities through these incredibly difficult and challenging times. This includes a £40m investment as part of our Covid Commitment to support anyone who needs help to find work, education or training or to start their own business.”
