Interim Chief Executive to the Citizen Voice Body for Health and Social Care (CVB) appointed

The chief executive of the board of Community Health Councils in Wales, Alyson Thomas. has been appointed the interim Chief Executive of the new Citizen Voice Body (CVB) for Health and Social Care.
From April next year the CVB, chaired by Professor Medwin Hughes, will replace Community Health Councils in providing a voice for the public in the running of health and social care services in Wales.
Alyson, who has been appointed by the non-executive members of CVB, will be critical in leading the new organisation, setting direction and shaping how it is run.
She brings with her a wealth of experience in policy development and enabling citizens voices to be heard through her time leading the Community Health Councils for Wales.
Minister for Health and Social Services, Eluned Morgan said: “I welcome this appointment and look forward to working with Alyson as she leads on the establishment of this important new body.
Her experience in leading the Community Health Councils for Wales will be invaluable in ensuring the people of Wales can have their voices heard on the health and social care issues that matter most to them.
Commenting on the appointment, Professor Hughes said:
“I am delighted to announce Alyson’s appointment and am sure she will make a valuable contribution in guiding the Citizen Voice Body for Health and Social Care.
I look forward to working with Alyson and the Board as we establish this new organisation and plan our future direction.”
Alyson has been appointed for up to one year and will start her role immediately.
