£800m yn sicrhau trenau newydd ar gyfer pob taith ar linell Wrecsam Bidston
Cabinet Secretary for Transport and North Wales, Ken Skates was keen to hear what passengers had to say about the improvements that have been made on one of the key rail routes connecting Wales and England, when he jumped on board earlier this week.
100% of train journeys on the key Wrexham to Bidston line are now on new trains with a reduction in train cancellations to 1.8%. Rail services have also improved across North Wales with over 87% of journeys now on new fleet.
Since the timetable changes last December, the Wrexham to Bidston line has seen some significant enhancements with the introduction of more regular and reliable services and new and improved trains to help improve customer experiences.
An additional eight trains a day have been added to the route helping to increase resilience and reduce the number of cancelled and delayed services. 21,000 more people used the line this March compared to March 2023. Last month was also the highest number of users on the line in a single month (31,482) since before COVID.
All these improvements offer customers a more reliable and sustainable cross border travel solution.
Ken Skates said:
“It is great to see our £800m investment in brand new trains come into fruition and hear first-hand from passengers how the changes we have made to this important line is making a real difference to their journeys.
“After listening to customer feedback, we worked closely with rail user groups, and TfW to understand what passengers wanted so that we could bring about much-needed change
“The Wrexham Bidston line is a key cross border link, and it’s good to see these positive changes.”
